Hello, and welcome to the HatchDraw blog! We’re thrilled to meet you here. Today, we want to share the story behind HatchDraw’s inception and the driving force behind our determination to make it a reality.
Ready? Let’s jump in!
Our journey doesn’t resemble the classic entrepreneurial story. Instead, inspiration struck us one evening after work, as we lounged on our old, sagging couch. We discovered the humorous creations by Tom Curtis, who masterfully photoshopped his sons’ doodles into realistic-looking animals.

We found those pictures funny and hilarious, and as professionals working with children, we were amazed by how Tim cherished his sons’ drawings. Growing up in an Asian setting, where children were often pushed to their limits to achieve goals and meet expectations. Children’s impression drawing then were very unlikely to be kept as parents or teacher commonly expect drawings to be close to the one produced by experienced adults. However, we believe that we are all Different! We should learned to value one’s creativity and treasure them in their own unique ways.

After discussing the idea with our families and friends, we decided to create something that provides opportunities for children to be creative and have their creativity to be appreciated. That’s when we began putting our ideas into action and named ourselves HatchDraw.
Drawing on our professional experiences, we found that Social Stories are immensely beneficial for children, particularly those with special needs like Autism. They assist in developing life skills and learning to handle various situations, such as dining out or crossing the road safely. Inspired by Tom’s work, we designed Social Stories books that turn children into the characters of their own story books. In addition, we strive to share valuable insights and knowledge with parents, who selflessly support their children’s development around the clock.
To all the little aspiring illustrators and artists out there:
We hope you enjoy the creative journey and have fun with us!
Thank you for reading, and have a fantastic day!
Warm regards, Daman and Sabrina
